1847 stone milling

/ local, organic grain mill

1847 Stone Milling is a family owned and operated organic grain mill local to Southern Ontario. They pride themselves on producing quality farm to table ingredients to feed communities and families. When they decided to take a look at their branding they wanted to refresh their vibe to better reflect their quality and modern practices while still staying true to their rustic and historic roots.

This rebrand involved a mini brand guide, packaging, branded products and creating an infographic flour tasting wheel chart to help inform customers on how different flour types effect the flavour of the foods they are used in.

The modern rustic vibe

When creating the new logo for this brand I explored various ways of modernizing the wheat imagery while still maintaining the heritage of the brand. Through our explorations the client found that they wanted to have a wheat bundle as the main imagery, as with their original logo, but adopted a more modern, clean yet rustic illustration style.

The font used for the text is contemporary in form and structure while the grit and textured edges of the letterforms give the tone a rural, homegrown feel. The colour pallet we developed to differentiate their flour types and to use in the tasting wheel is comprised of pops of earthy jewel tones and soft linen shades.
